How about a tool that looks at language change holistically, combining typological, lexical, morphological, and syntactic databases that have been used to show evolutionary processes?
“All we are doing is putting numbers on things.” Is there a bias towards dealing with percentages and understanding what it really means? Can humans actually compute differences from a gold standard, or fully comprehend what a gold standard actually is?
